MFA Press Statement: Visit by Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong to Hong Kong, 21 to 23 January 2016

        Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong was hosted to lunch by Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Mr Leung Chun-ying on 21 January 2016 at the Government House, Hong Kong.  Over lunch, ESM and Chief Executive Leung reaffirmed the warm ties between Singapore and Hong Kong, and exchanged views on the recent developments of the two cities, in particular, the opportunities for the cities and the region presented by the “One Belt, One Road” initiative.

 

        ESM is visiting Hong Kong to speak at the “Redefining the Next Asian New Town” forum organised by AECOM and Asia Society in Hong Kong on 21 January 2016.  Chief Executive Leung and Secretary for Development Mr Paul Chan also spoke at the forum.  ESM also met with Chief Secretary for Administration Mrs Carrie Lam at the event and was hosted to breakfast by Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and former Chief Executive Mr Tung Chee Hwa on 22 January 2016.
