Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Foreign Affairs and SMS for Defence Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman is making a working visit to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates from 24 to 26 February 2016.
In Abu Dhabi, SMS Maliki met with Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority of the Government of Abu Dhabi and Co-Chair of the Abu Dhabi-Singapore Joint Forum His Excellency Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak. During the meeting, they affirmed the warm and friendly ties between Singapore and UAE and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
In Fujairah, SMS Maliki called on the Ruler of Fujairah His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi. At the meeting, Sheikh Hamad and SMS agreed to build on the strong partnership for mutual benefit. SMS was also hosted to lunch by Chairman of the Department of Industry and Economy His Highness Sheikh Saleh Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi and taken for a tour in his car to see the emirate’s key development projects and be briefed on the potential economic opportunities for Singaporean companies in Fujairah.
In Dubai, SMS Maliki had separate meetings with the Chairman of Dubai’s Supreme Fiscal Committee and Chairman of Emirates Airlines and Group His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, as well as prominent businessmen and think-tanks. They exchanged views on regional economic developments as well as ways to counter the threat of extremism. SMS will also meet with Singaporeans based in UAE at a tea reception on 26 February 2016.
