Mrs Valentina Matvienko, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, paid separate courtesy calls on President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today. During the two meetings, they reviewed and reaffirmed the growing relations between Singapore and the Russian Federation. They welcomed the inter-parliamentary exchanges and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation across many sectors. They agreed that there was room to step up cooperation in counter-terrorism and to expand cooperation in sectors such as trade and investment, agriculture, culture and education.
Mrs Matvienko is visiting Singapore from 16 to 17 March 2016 at the invitation of Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob. Mrs Matvienko will call on Speaker Halimah tomorrow.
