                    Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan represented Singapore at the high-level signature ceremony of the Paris Agreement on climate change, organised by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in New York on 22 April 2016.   Over 170 Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change signed the historic Agreement which was concluded at the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-21) in Paris on 12 December 2015.

                    Minister Balakrishnan also delivered Singapore’s national statement at the signature ceremony to affirm Singapore’s support and commitment for the Agreement.

                    While in New York, Minister Balakrishnan also held meetings with prominent American strategic thinkers, including Dr Henry Kissinger.  He also attended a dinner hosted by the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Cities and Climate Change Mr Michael Bloomberg.

                    Minister Balakrishnan is accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
