The President of the Republic of Panama, His Excellency Juan Carlos Varela Rodríguez, will make a State Visit to Singapore from 21 to 22 April 2016, at the invitation of President Tony Tan Keng Yam. President Varela will be accompanied by First Lady Mdm Lorena Castillo de Varela, and a delegation including Minister of Public Works Ramón Arosemena; Minister of Economy and Finance Dulcidio De La Guardia; Minister of Canal Affairs Roberto Roy; Minister of Maritime Affairs Jorge Barakat; Minister of Commerce and Industries Augusto Arosemena Moreno; Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Luis Miguel Hincapié; Vice Minister of Public Works Marietta Jaén; and senior officials.
There will be a welcome ceremony for President Varela at the Istana on 22 April 2016. This will be followed by a call on President Tan, and a meeting with Acting Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean. In the evening, President Tan and Mrs Tan will host a State Banquet in honour of President Varela, Mdm Castillo de Varela and their accompanying delegation. In addition, President Varela will visit PSA, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore and the Institute of Technical Education. He will depart Singapore the same day.
