Singapore expresses its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and everyone affected by the major earthquake that struck Ecuador on 17 April 2016.
MFA is contacting registered Singaporeans in Ecuador to ascertain their safety. Singaporeans there are advised to take the necessary precautions, closely monitor the local news and heed the instructions of the local authorities. They should also contact their next-of-kin who might be worried about their safety as soon as they are able to do so.
