Mr İsmail Kahraman, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey, paid separate courtesy calls on President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today. During the meetings, they reviewed and reaffirmed the warm and friendly relations between Singapore and Turkey. They welcomed the ongoing efforts to step up ties across various sectors, including through inter-parliamentary, cultural and educational exchanges. Mr Kahraman conveyed his strong support for the Turkey-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (TRSFTA) and its expeditious ratification. The leaders also exchanged views on international developments.
Mr Kahraman, accompanied by Parliamentarians from the Grand National Assembly is in Singapore from 11 to 13 May 2016 at the invitation of Speaker of Parliament Halimah Yacob. He called on Speaker Halimah yesterday, and was separately hosted to lunch by Speaker Halimah and dinner by the Singapore-Europe Parliamentary Friendship Group.
