MFA Press Statement: Visit by DPM & Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean to the Kingdom of Thailand, 30 May

Deputy Prime Minister & Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean called on Prime Minister of Thailand General Prayut Chan-o-cha at the Government House in Bangkok today.  Prime Minister Prayut and DPM Teo reaffirmed the excellent and longstanding bilateral ties between Singapore and Thailand.  Both leaders agreed that the two countries should continue to work closely to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including in the economic, security, and defence domains. 

DPM Teo was hosted to lunch by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence General Prawit Wongsuwon.  DPM Teo and Deputy Prime Minister Prawit welcomed greater defence cooperation between Singapore and Thailand both bilaterally and through regional and multilateral platforms.  They also discussed evolving security challenges such as terrorism and cybersecurity and cooperation in these areas.

 

DPM Teo also met Minister of Interior General Anupong Paochinda, where they exchanged views on governance and administration and shared experiences in water management.

DPM Teo had an audience with, and was hosted to dinner by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.  DPM Teo also made a courtesy call on President of the Privy Council General Prem Tinsulanonda.
