Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Economy and Planning of the Republic of Cuba, His Excellency Marino Alberto Murillo Jorge, who is visiting Singapore under the S R Nathan Fellowship, called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today.
PM Lee and Vice President Murillo reaffirmed the long-standing relations between Singapore and Cuba. They welcomed the growing cooperation between Cuba and Singapore, and noted that there was scope to further strengthen collaboration. Vice President Murillo also briefed PM Lee on developments in Cuba, including Cuba’s plans for economic and structural reform.
Vice President Murillo was hosted to separate meals by Minister for Trade and Industry (Trade) Lim Hng Kiang on Monday (23 May 2016), and Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan yesterday (24 May 2016). Their discussions focussed on current and potential areas of bilateral cooperation between Cuba and Singapore, as well as developments in Cuba. Vice President Murillo also met Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam yesterday. He is scheduled to meet Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam tomorrow.
