MFA Press Statement: Visit of His Excellency Marino Alberto Murillo Jorge, Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Economy and Planning of the Republic of Cuba, to Singapore, 23 - 29 May 2016

    

    Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Economy and Planning of the Republic of Cuba His Excellency Marino Alberto Murillo Jorge will visit Singapore at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam under the S R Nathan Fellowship from 23 to 29 May 2016.

        The S R Nathan Fellowship is a high-level programme through which foreign leaders, prominent personalities and opinion-shapers are invited to Singapore to exchange ideas and experiences on current and long-term challenges with Singapore leaders and senior government officials. The Fellowship was launched by former President S R Nathan and then-Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam in November 2012.

        During his visit, Vice President Murillo will call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and meet Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Trade and Industry (Trade) Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, and Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam.  Vice President Murillo will also receive briefings by the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Manpower, the Civil Service College, Economic Development Board, IE Singapore, the Housing Development Board, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Urban Redevelopment Authority, Changi Airport Group, JTC Corporation, PSA International, and Temasek Holdings.

        Vice President Murillo will be accompanied by senior officials from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Central Bank of Cuba, and the Permanent Commission for the Implementation and Development of Economic and Social Policy Guidelines (CIDEL).
