President of the Swiss Confederation Johann N. Schneider-Ammann will make a State Visit to Singapore from 11 to 13 July 2016 at the invitation of President Tony Tan Keng Yam. This will be the first State Visit by Switzerland to Singapore. President Schneider-Ammann will be accompanied by senior officials and a business delegation.
An official welcome ceremony will be held for President Schneider-Ammann on 12 July 2016, followed by a call on President Tan and a meeting with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. President Schneider-Ammann will also have meetings with Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Minister for Trade & Industry (Trade) Lim Hng Kiang. President Tan will host a State Banquet in honour of President Schneider-Ammann and the accompanying delegation that same evening. In addition, President Schneider-Ammann will visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens, where an orchid will be named in his honour. President Schneider-Ammann will deliver the keynote address at the Switzerland-Singapore Business Forum: “SkillsFuture – Developing a Future Ready Workforce” in the afternoon alongside Deputy Prime Minister Tharman.
President Schneider-Ammann’s visit will reaffirm the warm and long-standing relationship between Singapore and Switzerland.
