Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Defence and Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman and his spouse, Madam Sadiah Shahal were in Brunei Darussalam from 7 to 10 July 2016 for the annual Hari Raya Visit. SMS Maliki was accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary for Culture, Community and Youth Mr Baey Yam Ken and his spouse Madam Lim Hai Yen, and Parliamentary Secretary for Home Affairs Mr Amrin Amin.
On 7 July 2016, SMS Maliki and the delegation visited the Istana Nurul Iman. The delegation personally conveyed the Hari Raya wishes of Singapore’s leaders to the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah and the Raja Isteri Her Majesty Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha. Separately, on 9 July 2016, SMS and the delegation met with Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel and their families in Brunei and conveyed their Hari Raya wishes.
During the visit, SMS Maliki and the delegation attended the Open Houses of numerous Bruneian Ministers, Deputy Ministers and senior officials. SMS and the delegation were also hosted to breakfast by Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Pehin Lim Jock Seng. Earlier today, SMS Maliki was the Guest-of-Honour at the Hari Raya Open House organised by the Singapore High Commission in Bandar Seri Begawan attended by Bruneian Ministers and senior officials. This visit reaffirmed the close ties and warm friendship between the two countries.
