France’s High Level Climate Champion under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Her Excellency Ambassador Laurence Tubiana will visit Singapore from 9 to 11 July 2016, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ International Organisations Distinguished Visitors Programme (IODVP). The IODVP invites outstanding individuals connected to international organisations and the United Nations to visit Singapore, to deepen mutual understanding and foster cooperation through the exchange of views with Singapore leaders and officials. Ambassador Tubiana played a key role in helping Parties to the UNFCCC arrive at the historic Paris Agreement adopted on 12 December 2015.
On 11 July, Ambassador Tubiana will deliver an address at the Joint Opening Plenary of the World Cities Summit (WCS), Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) and CleanEnviro Summit Singapore (CESS). She will be hosted to lunch by Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Mr Masagos Zulkifli, alongside other distinguished guests attending the WCS, SIWW and CESS. Ambassador Tubiana will also call on Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Mr Teo Chee Hean, Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Climate Change (IMCCC). Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will host her to dinner. During her visit, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) will also host Ambassador Tubiana on a tour of Singapore’s harbour, providing an overview of MPA’s Maritime Singapore Green Initiative (MSGI) to recognise and incentivise maritime companies to adopt clean and green shipping practices. MSGI is MPA’s commitment towards an environmentally friendly and sustainable global hub port.
