Consular update on the 6.2 magnitude earthquake in central Italy, 24 August 2016

 

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck near the city of Perugia in central Italy on 24 August 2016, resulting in casualties. Since the earthquake, there are reports of several aftershocks. Rescue operations are ongoing.

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has verified the safety of all registered Singaporeans in Perugia. Singaporeans in central Italy and near the affected areas should take all necessary precautions for their personal safety, including monitoring the local news regarding the earthquake and heeding the instructions of the local authorities.

Singaporeans are also advised to stay in touch with your family and friends so that they know you are safe.
