1            Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan who is in New York for the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), had separate meetings with Dr Henry Kissinger and former Majority Leader of the US House of Representatives Eric Cantor. They had frank and wide-ranging discussions on global and regional developments.

2            Minister Balakrishnan also hosted the 9th Global Governance Group (3G)[1] Ministerial Meeting, during which the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, briefed the 3G on Germany's incoming G20 Presidency and its continued engagement of the 3G.

3            Minister Balakrishnan also hosted a lunch for the Heads of Delegation from Pacific Small Island Developing States and Timor-Leste, which was attended by a number of Prime Ministers, Ministers and other country representatives. The delegations exchanged views on the common challenges faced by small island states and reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together to address them.

4            Minister Balakrishnan also met his counterparts from Argentina, Mozambique, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, at the sidelines of the UNGA to reaffirm our good bilateral cooperation, and explore ways to further strengthen our links.
