Senior Minister of State (SMS), Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Transport, Mrs Josephine Teo, is visiting Vienna from 30 September to 3 October 2016.

SMS Teo was the Guest-of-Honour at the second instalment of the Singapore-Austria Science and Business Day on 30 September 2016.  The Science and Business Day is an initiative arising from the Joint Declaration of Intent signed between A*STAR and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) in June 2015 to promote Research and Development (R&D) cooperation between both countries.

SMS Teo had separate meetings with the Federal State Secretary for Science, Research and Economy Harald Mahrer and Secretary-General of Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs Michael Linhart.  During the meetings, both sides reaffirmed the good bilateral relations, and noted that 2016 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Austria.  They also discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, including in the economic, cultural, science and technology sectors.  Secretary-General Linhart reaffirmed Austria’s support for the ratification of the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement.  SMS Teo also visited the Modul College of Hospitality, where she had a chance to interact with the students and faculty.

SMS Teo will attend a reception to meet the Singapore community in Austria on 1 October 2016.  She will also visit Austrian R&D institutions and various Austrian companies with interests in Singapore.  On 3 October 2016, SMS Teo will meet the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano and Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Director-General of the UN Office at Vienna (UNOV) Yury Fedotov.
