Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy Benedetto Della Vedova called on Senior Minister of State (SMS), Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Transport, Josephine Teo this afternoon. They reaffirmed the close bilateral ties between Singapore and Italy and exchanged views on regional and international developments.
Earlier in the day, Undersecretary Della Vedova and SMS Teo officiated the opening ceremony of the Italian Innovations Days. The inaugural trade event was organised by Italian agencies and businesses in collaboration with the Italian Embassy in Singapore, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, IE Singapore, the Singapore Manufacturing Federation to promote ties between Italian and Singaporean businesses. The theme of the event was “Bridging Italian Innovation with Financial and Industrial Partners in Singapore and ASEAN”. In her opening remarks, SMS Teo spoke about the mutual interest of Singaporean and Italian businesses to expand longstanding trade ties. SMS encouraged Italian companies to use Singapore as a gateway to the wider Southeast Asian region. An Italian trade delegation comprising 30 companies travelled to Singapore to participate in the event.
