Senior Minister of State (SMS), Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman, who is on a working visit to Jordan from 8 to 10 November 2016, met Jordan Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr Adel Tweisi, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Bisher Khasawneh earlier today. During the meetings, SMS Maliki reaffirmed the warm and friendly ties between Singapore and Jordan, and discussed avenues to expand Singapore-Jordan bilateral cooperation, including in technical capacity-building and countering religious extremism. SMS Maliki also thanked the Jordanian government for looking after the welfare of Singaporean students in Jordan.
This afternoon, SMS Maliki visited the Regional Vocational Training Centre in Marka, which was jointly established by Singapore and Jordan in 2007 under the framework of the Asia-Middle East Dialogue. The Centre has since trained over 100 participants in air-conditioning and heating systems. SMS Maliki also met leaders of the Singaporean student community in Jordan.
SMS Maliki will depart Jordan for Singapore tomorrow morning.
