MFA Press Statement: Introductory Visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to New Zealand, 3 to 5 April 2017

        Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will make an introductory visit to New Zealand from 3 to 5 April 2017 at the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs Murray McCully.

        In Wellington, Minister Balakrishnan will call on Prime Minister Bill English and be hosted to lunch by Minister McCully.  In addition, he will meet Minister of Health, Sport and Recreation Dr Jonathan Coleman, Minister of Trade and State Owned Enterprises Todd McClay, Minister of Finance and Infrastructure Steven Joyce and Attorney-General Christopher Finlayson.  Minister Balakrishnan will also meet  Labour Party Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs David Parker and other prominent personalities.  A key objective of the visit is to explore ways to strengthen the close and  longstanding bilateral partnership between Singapore and New Zealand. 

        Minister Balakrishnan will also visit Auckland, where he will be hosted to lunch by Auckland Mayor Phil Goff, and receive a briefing on the Auckland Smart City Initiative.

        Minister Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
