Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Defence and Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman will make introductory visits to the State of Kuwait from 7 to 8 May 2017, and the Republic of Lebanon from 9 to 12 May 2017. The visits are part of Singapore’s ongoing engagement of the countries in the Middle East.
In Kuwait, SMS Maliki will meet President of the National Security Bureau Sheikh Thamer Ali Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah and Deputy Foreign Minister Khalid Sulaiman Al Jarallah. SMS Maliki will visit the Singapore Armed Forces’ Imagery Analysis Team deployed at the Combined Joint Task Force Headquarters in Kuwait as part of the anti-Islamic State in Iraq and Syria coalition.
Following the visit to Kuwait, SMS Maliki will make an introductory visit to Lebanon, during which he will meet key Lebanese political leaders as well as engage the Lebanese business community. The visit would be the first by a Singapore political office-holder to Lebanon since 1974.
