MFA Press Statement: Official Visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency Binali Yildirim, 20 to 22 August 2017

        The Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency Binali Yıldırım, will make his first official visit to Singapore from 20 to 22 August 2017, at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.  Prime Minister Yıldırım will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Deputy Prime Minister Recep Akdağ, Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Faruk Özlü, Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci, Minister of Customs and Trade Bülent Tüfenkçi, senior government officials and a business delegation.

 

        An official Welcome Ceremony will be held in honour of Prime Minister Yıldırım on 21 August.  Prime Minister Yıldırım will call on President Tony Tan Keng Yam and meet Prime Minister Lee, who will also host an Official Dinner.

 

While in Singapore, Prime Minister Yıldırım will deliver the 41st Singapore Lecture, titled “Turkey-Singapore Relations: Building a Smart Strategic Partnership”, which will be moderated by Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam on 21 August.  Prime Minister Yıldırım will also visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens where an orchid will be named in his honour, as well as make site visits to Jurong Island and PSA’s port facilities.

 

        Prime Minister Yıldırım’s visit reaffirms the warm and growing bilateral relations between Singapore and Turkey, and builds on the Strategic Partnership signed in 2014.
