MFA Press Statement: Visit by Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sam Tan to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, 16 to 19 September 2017

Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sam Tan will visit Ashgabat, Turkmenistan to attend the Opening Ceremony of the 5^th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games on 17 September 2017 as Singapore’s official representative and in support of Team Singapore.

Singapore will be sending an 18-member contingent comprising athletes and sports officials. While in Ashgabat, MOS Tan will also call on President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedow and senior Turkmen officials.

The visit would be the first by a Singapore political office-holder to Turkmenistan since diplomatic relations were established in 1996.

MOS Tan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
