Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam will visit Moscow, Russia from 16 to 17 October 2017.
DPM Tharman will co-chair the Eighth Session of the High-Level Russia-Singapore Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC8) with First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov in Moscow on 17 October 2017. The IGC is an annual high-level dialogue aimed at strengthening broad-based cooperation between Russia and Singapore. The Seventh Session of the IGC was held in Singapore on 25 November 2016. This year, the IGC will take stock of our trade and investment relations, and explore opportunities for further cooperation between Singapore and Russia.
In conjunction with IGC8, the two DPMs will attend the plenary session of Russia’s Open Innovations Forum 2017 (OIF), a technology forum co-organised by Skolkovo Foundation with the support of the Russian Government. They will also open the Russia-Singapore Business Forum (RSBF) organised by International Enterprise Singapore as part of OIF 2017. Into its twelfth run, the RSBF aims to strengthen bilateral economic ties by facilitating business partnerships and networking, and will be conducted in the form of a roundtable dialogue focused on smart cities and urban solutions. Over 120 Russian and Singapore delegates, comprising business and government representatives, are expected to participate in RSBF 2017.
DPM Tharman will be accompanied by Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Home Affairs; Ms Indranee Rajah, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Law; and Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of National Development. He will also be accompanied by a business delegation and officials from various ministries and government agencies.
