MFA Press Statement: Visit of Former President of South Africa Kgalema Motlanthe to Singapore from 30 October to 2 November

Former President of South Africa Mr Kgalema Motlanthe will visit Singapore from 30 October to 2 November 2017 under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Distinguished Visitors Programme (DVP).  The DVP, which was started in June 2005, invites outstanding foreign dignitaries to Singapore to help forge closer bilateral ties and foster mutual cooperation through the exchange of views with Singapore leaders and officials.

         Mr Motlanthe will call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.  He will also meet Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman.  During the visit, Mr Motlanthe will deliver a lecture titled “Education as a Catalyst for Socio-economic Development in Post-Apartheid South Africa” at the Singapore Management University under its Presidential Distinguished Lecturer Series.

 

         Mr Motlanthe will also visit Ang Mo Kio Primary School, HDB Hub, the Singapore City Gallery, and the National Museum of Singapore.
