Mdm Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, paid separate courtesy calls on President Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today.
During the meetings, both sides reaffirmed the warm relations and Strategic Partnership between Singapore and Vietnam, underpinned by frequent high-level exchanges and strong economic linkages. They welcomed the robust inter-parliamentary exchanges and the strong bilateral cooperation in many sectors including trade and investment, education and aviation connectivity. They had a wide ranging discussion on developments in Vietnam and regional issues. Mdm Ngan reaffirmed Vietnam’s support for Singapore’s Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2018.
Mdm Ngan, accompanied by a delegation of Parliamentarians and senior officials from Vietnam, is making an official visit to Singapore from 26 to 28 November 2017 at the invitation of Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin. Mdm Ngan will call on and be hosted to lunch by Speaker Tan tomorrow.
