MFA Press Statement: Visit by Dr Tawfiq Al Rabiah, Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to Singapore under the Middle East Eminent Persons' Programme, 6 to 8 November 2017

     Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Dr Tawfiq Al Rabiah, visited Singapore from 6 to 8 November 2017 under the Middle East Eminent Persons’ Programme (MEEPP) at the invitation of Minister for Health Mr Gan Kim Yong.  Dr Al Rabiah called on Minister Gan yesterday and exchanged views on developments and challenges in the healthcare sector.  Dr Al Rabiah was also briefed on Singapore’s healthcare model and corporatisation journey.  On 8 November 2017, Dr Al Rabiah was hosted to lunch by Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Transport and Health Dr Lam Pin Min. They shared experiences on efforts to improve health systems, including transforming primary care and digital health.   

     During his visit, Dr Al Rabiah and the delegation visited the Singapore Health Services Group, the Health Promotion Board, Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s Centre for Healthcare Innovation, the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine Novena Campus, one-north, as well as several private healthcare institutions to better understand Singapore’s health promotion and patient education, as well as to learn more about our healthcare facilities and services. 

      Administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the MEEPP is a programme that aims to bring distinguished personalities from the Middle East region to Singapore to promote mutual understanding and cooperation.  17 Middle East personalities have visited Singapore under the ambit of the MEEPP since its launch in 2007.
