MFA Press Statement: Visit of Minister For Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, for the 13th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Foreign Ministers' Meeting, 19 to 21 November 2017

    Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will visit Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar from 19 to 21 November 2017 to attend the 13^th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.  Delegations from 51 Asian and European countries, as well as the ASEAN Secretariat and the European Union, convene every two years for the ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. Under the theme “Strengthening Partnership for Peace and Sustainable Development”, the Ministers will discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Asia and Europe, and exchange views on regional and international issues.

    Minister Balakrishnan is scheduled to speak at the plenary session on “Synergising Peace and Sustainable Development” on 20 November 2017.  Minister Balakrishnan will also have bilateral meetings with his Asian and European counterparts on the sidelines of the 13^th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, as well as meetings with key personalities in Myanmar.

    Minister Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
