Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sam Tan will visit Norway from 21 to 25 January 2018.
From 21 to 23 January, MOS Tan will attend the 12th Arctic Frontiers Conference (AFC) in Tromsø. MOS Tan will deliver remarks at a plenary session entitled, “Speaking Truth to Power. Science Based Policy in a Post-fact World” on 22 January. Thereafter, MOS Tan will visit Hammerfest from 24 to 25 January. Hammerfest is an important Arctic port that is ice-free year round. It is also a centre of Saami culture, as the Saami indigenous peoples from nearby camps gather at Hammerfest to trade. In Hammerfest, MOS will meet with local municipality officials and visit a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal operated by Norwegian company Statoil.
MOS Tan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
