Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic Dr Angelino Alfano is in Singapore for a working visit on 8 February 2018.
Earlier today, Minister Alfano called on and was hosted to lunch by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. They reaffirmed the warm bilateral relations between Singapore and Italy, and welcomed strengthening economic ties. Minister Alfano expressed Italy’s continued support for the expeditious ratification of the EU – Singapore Free Trade Agreement (EUSFTA). When ratified, the EUSFTA will bring benefits to Singapore, Italy and the EU as a whole. The Ministers also had wide-ranging discussions on regional and international issues. Minister Balakrishnan updated Minister Alfano on Singapore’s priorities as ASEAN Chair this year.
Minister Alfano departs Singapore this evening.
