Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, who is on an Official Visit to Singapore at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, received an official ceremonial welcome at the Istana today. Following which, Prime Minister Hasina called on President Halimah Yacob. President and Prime Minister Hasina reaffirmed the friendly relations between Singapore and Bangladesh, and looked forward to strengthening economic and people-to-people ties.
Prime Minister Hasina also met Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who hosted an official lunch in honour of Prime Minister Hasina. Both Prime Ministers exchanged views on ways to further bilateral economic cooperation, and exchanged perspectives on regional developments. They also witnessed the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding between Singapore and Bangladesh in the areas of the expansion of air services, as well as the promotion of investments through public-private partnerships.
Prime Minister Hasina also visited PSA International. Tomorrow, Prime Minister Hasina will visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens, where an orchid will be named in her honour. She will also attend the Bangladesh-Singapore Business Forum organised by the Singapore Business Federation, where she will witness the signing of several agreements to facilitate business and investment flows, and will interact with Singaporean companies at a roundtable event.
Prime Minister Hasina will depart Singapore on Wednesday.
