MFA Press Statement: Visit of Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sam Tan to Russia, 24 to 27 March 2018

Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sam Tan is on a visit to Russia from 24 to 27 March.
 
Following the visit to Salekhard from 24 to 25 March, MOS Tan visited Moscow on 26 March to meet First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Vladimir Titov, and Special Representative of the President on International Cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic Artur Chilingarov. They reaffirmed bilateral relations, Russia’s support for Singapore’s observership in the Arctic Council, and agreed to deepen cooperation on Arctic issues. 
 
On 27 March, MOS Tan visited the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI) in St Petersburg with a delegation comprising officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Climate Change Secretariat, and a representative from the Nanyang Technological University. He was received by AARI Director Alexander Makarov, and they discussed possible collaboration in Arctic research.
 
MOS Tan will depart for Singapore tomorrow.
