Ministry of Foreign Affairs Press Statement: Working Visit of Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to Buenos Aires, Argentina, 20 to 23 May 2018

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will be visiting Buenos Aires, Argentina from 20 to 23 May 2018 to attend the G20 Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers, and to meet with Argentine leaders. The G20 Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers will take place on 20 and 21 May 2018. Singapore has been invited to participate in the G20 process as the ASEAN Chair this year. Singapore is also the representative of the Global Governance Group (3G), an informal grouping of 30 small and medium sized countries, which seeks to promote cooperation between G20 and non-G20 countries.

The G20 Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers will discuss how multilateralism can contribute to global stability and global governance. Ministers will also exchange insights on fair and sustainable development, including equipping the workforce for the future, infrastructural development and enhancing food security.

During his visit, Minister Balakrishnan will also have bilateral meetings with key Argentine leaders on 22 and 23 May.
