Ministry of Foreign Affairs Press Statement - State Visit of President Halimah Yacob to Negara Brunei Darussalam, 11 to 14 May 2018

President Halimah Yacob, accompanied by Mr Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee, is on her first State Visit to Negara Brunei Darussalam. President Halimah and His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam, began the day with a morning walk followed by breakfast in Bandar Seri Begawan during the Bandarku Ceria (car-free Sunday). They were joined at the walk and breakfast by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office of Negara Brunei Darussalam, as well as Ministers and senior officials.

 

President Halimah also visited Singapore Armed Forces personnel training in Brunei.

 

In the afternoon, President Halimah visited the University of Brunei Darussalam’s Botanical Research Centre. President Halimah was given a tour of the nature trails and greenhouse at the Centre, and was briefed on the Centre’s role in researching and conserving Brunei’s rich tropical biodiversity, and developing its herbal medicine sector. President Halimah lauded Brunei’s efforts in preserving its flora and fauna and achieving sustainable growth.

         

This evening, President will attend a dinner reception for the Singaporean community in Brunei hosted by High Commissioner in Brunei Lim Hong Huai at the Empire Hotel.

 

President Halimah will return to Singapore tomorrow, 14 May 2018.
