Ministry of Foreign Affairs Press Statement: Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean's Call on Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, 11 June 2018

Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, accompanied by Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat, called on Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the sidelines of the 24thInternational Conference on the Future of Asia, “Keeping Asia Open – How to Achieve Prosperity and Stability”, organised by Nikkei Inc. in Tokyo, Japan on 11 June 2018.

 

 

DPM Teo and Prime Minister Mahathir reaffirmed the longstanding and extensive bilateral relations between Singapore and Malaysia. DPM Teo and Prime Minister Mahathir noted the frequent interactions between Ministers and senior officials of both countries. DPM Teo said that both sides should continue to advance our bilateral ties on the basis of existing agreements. DPM Teo and Prime Minister Mahathir agreed to explore new areas of collaboration, such as trade and investments, for mutual benefit.  

 

 

DPM Teo and Prime Minister Mahathir also exchanged views on regional and global developments. DPM Teo and Prime Minister Mahathir agreed that both countries should continue to cooperate to strengthen ASEAN and safeguard regional stability and development.
