The following foreign Heads of Missionpresented their credentials to President Halimah Yacob in separate ceremonies at the Istana today:

BARAKA HARAN LUVANDA

HIGH COMMISSIONER TO SINGAPORE

UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA

Mr Baraka Haran Luvanda is the Ambassador of Tanzania to India, with concurrent accreditation to Singapore.

Prior to his appointment as Ambassador to India, Mr Luvanda served as the Director of Legal Affairs in the Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2015 to 2017. He also previously served as Cabinet Assistant Secretary before his promotion to the post of Coordinator in the office of the Chief Secretary in the President’s office from 2012 to 2015. He joined the Tanzanian Foreign Service in January 1999, and has served in the Legal Division, Multilateral Cooperation and Protocol Division before his posting to the Permanent Mission of the United Republic of Tanzania to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland from 2004 to 2009. He re-joined the legal division in the Foreign Ministry upon his return to Tanzania from 2010 to 2012.

Mr Luvanda holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Dar es Salaam, and a Master of Arts Degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Geneva School of International Relations.

 

MR FABIÁN VALDIVIESO

AMBASSADOR TO SINGAPORE

REPUBLIC OF ECUADOR

 

Ambassador Fabián Valdivieso was born in Loja, Ecuador on 17 June 1955. He has a Doctorate in International Law, Specializing in Air and Space Law from San Marcos National University, Peru, a Doctorate in Law from the Cooperative University of Colombia, Ecuador, and a Master in International Management from the University of Lausanne and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland.

He entered the Ecuadorian Foreign Service in 1975 and was Ambassador of Ecuador to Poland from 2010 to 2014. On April 2017, he was appointed Ambassador of Ecuador to Indonesia and on March 2018, as Ambassador to ASEAN and Brunei Darussalam with residence in Jakarta, Indonesia.

From 1997 to 2010, he was a Professor in International Public Law, International Relations, International Trade, National Identity and the United Nations’ System at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador. He was Secretary General of the Permanent Commission for the South Pacific (CPPS) from 1998 until 2002 and was appointed Minister of Environment of Ecuador from 2004 to 2005.

MRS. SELEIMA D. VEISAMASAMA

HIGH COMMISSIONER TO SINGAPORE

REPUBLIC OF FIJI


Seleima Veisamasama is the Ambassador of the Republic of Fiji to Indonesia with concurrent accreditation as High Commissioner to Singapore. She was born in Savusavu, Fiji, on 14 th August 1956.

Prior to her appointment as High Commissioner, Mrs Veisamasama was a teacher for over 38 years. She is an advocate of social issues and the preservation of nature, including the local implementation of best practices that addresses climate change and the environment.

She has worked with Non-Government Organizations including the World Wildlife Fund in 2006.

She has a Bachelor of Science and Diploma in Education from the University of the South Pacific (USP) including a Certificate in Diplomacy and International Relations. She is also pursuing a Post Graduate Certificate in Governance at USP.

Veisamasama is a widow and has three sons and two daughters.
