MFA Press Statement: Visit by Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean to Jakarta, Indonesia, 18 to 20 July 2018

Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean is on a working visit to Jakarta, Indonesia, from 18 to 20 July 2018.
 
DPM Teo met Indonesian Vice-President Jusuf Kalla on 18 July 2018. Both sides reaffirmed the excellent and mutually-beneficial relations between Singapore and Indonesia, building on the positive momentum and concrete areas of cooperation resulting from the 2017 Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat. DPM Teo and Vice-President Jusuf Kalla agreed that the stable and positive bilateral relationship would enable further cooperation and continued investor confidence. DPM Teo informed the Vice-President that PM Lee Hsien Loong looked forward to meeting President Joko Widodo at the upcoming Leaders’ Retreat hosted by Indonesia on 11 October 2018. DPM Teo expressed full confidence in Indonesia’s successful hosting of the Asian Games and International Monetary Fund-World Bank Annual Meetings this year. The leaders also exchanged views on ongoing regional developments.
 
Later in the afternoon, DPM Teo met separately with old friends of Singapore, such as GERINDRA Chairman Prabowo Subianto and Bapak Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono of Partai Demokrat.  They discussed trends and developments in the region.
 
On this visit to Indonesia, DPM Teo is accompanied by Minister of State (National Development) (Manpower) Zaqy Mohamad, Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Foreign Affairs) (Trade and Industry) Tan Wu Meng, Member of Parliament and Government Parliamentary Committee Deputy Chairperson (Defence and Foreign Affairs) Joan Pereira, Member of Parliament and Government Parliamentary Committee Member (Defence and Foreign Affairs) Henry Kwek, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
