MFA Press Statement: Official Visit of His Excellency Pham Binh Minh, Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Socialist Republic of Vietnam, 30 to 31 July 2018

His Excellency Pham Binh Minh, Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam will make an Official Visit to Singapore from 30 to 31 July 2018, ahead of the 51st ASEAN Foreign Ministerial Meetings and Related Meetings.  Deputy Prime Minister Minh’s visit is taking place as Singapore and Vietnam celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 5th anniversary of the Singapore-Vietnam Strategic Partnership this year.

 

 

Deputy Prime Minister Minh will meet and be hosted to breakfast by Minister for Foreign Affairs  Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.  Both Ministers will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on the principles for the operation of the Vietnam-Singapore Cooperation Centre (VSCC). The Singapore Cooperation Centre is Singapore’s next phase of contribution to the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI).  The VSCC is an enhancement of our existing IAI training centre in Hanoi, which will coordinate a wider range of development assistance from various Singapore agencies.  Deputy Prime Minister Minh will also pay courtesy calls on President Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. 

 

 

Deputy Prime Minister Minh will be accompanied by his spouse Madam Nguyen Nguyet Nga and officials from the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
