MFA Press Statement: Visit to Singapore by State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi, 1 to 5 August 2018

  State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana today. 
 
PM Lee and State Councilor Wang reaffirmed the longstanding and warm bilateral relations between Singapore and China.  They took stock of the multi-faceted and substantive bilateral cooperation, and discussed ways to further deepen and broaden the relationship, including in new areas like cooperation under the Belt & Road Initiative, the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity-Southern Transport Corridor, and third country cooperation.  PM Lee looked forward to welcoming Premier Li Keqiang to make an Official Visit to Singapore this November in conjunction with the 33rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits. 
 
PM Lee and State Councilor Wang also discussed key regional and international developments, including the strengthening of ASEAN-China relationship, expediting the negotiation for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement, and the importance of maintaining stable Sino-US relations.
