Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia His Excellency Prak Sokhonn is on an official visit to Singapore from 29 to 31 August 2018.
Senior Minister Sokhonn called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today. PM Lee and Senior Minister Sokhonn reaffirmed the warm and longstanding bilateral relationship. They discussed the potential to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation in areas like energy, aviation and telecommunications. They exchanged views on regional and international developments. Senior Minister Sokhonn updated PM Lee on the developments in Cambodia, including the recently concluded National Assembly Elections on 29 July 2018.
Senior Minister Sokhonn also met and was hosted to lunch by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. Both Ministers discussed ways to broaden the cooperation between Singapore and Cambodia both bilaterally and in ASEAN. Minister Balakrishnan reaffirmed Singapore’s continued support for Cambodia’s capacity building and human resource development, including through the new Cambodia-Singapore Cooperation Centre in Phnom Penh. Senior Minister Sokhonn expressed Cambodia’s support for Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship. Both Ministers emphasised the importance of ASEAN centrality and unity.
