Ministry of Foreign Affairs Press Statement: Seventh Ministerial Conference of the Bali Process on People Smuggling, Trafficking in Persons and Related Transnational Crime in Bali, Indonesia, 6 to 7 August 2018

Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Foreign Affairs) (Trade and Industry) Dr Tan Wu Meng attended the seventh Ministerial Conference of the Bali Process on People Smuggling, Trafficking in Persons and Related Transnational Crime that was held in Bali from 6 to 7 August 2018.  SPS Tan was accompanied by Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee for Home Affairs and Law Mr Christopher de Souza, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration and Checkpoints Authority and the Attorney-General’s Chambers.

 

SPS Tan delivered a statement at the Ministerial Conference expressing Singapore’s support for the voluntary, inclusive and non-binding nature of the Bali Process which provides a foundation for strong partnerships among its members in addressing these issues.  SPS Tan also spoke on Singapore’s work with local and international stakeholders to combat trafficking in persons under our National Approach against Trafficking in Persons.  Singapore will continue working closely with our partners, including within the Bali Process, on these challenges.
