MFA Press Statement: Working Visit by Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado, 23 to 25 October 2018

Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado, who is on a working visit to Singapore from 23 to 25 October 2018, called on President Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana today.
 
 
  President Halimah and Vice President Saint Malo reaffirmed the warm and friendly relations between Singapore and Panama, underpinned by high-level exchanges and common interests in promoting free trade and stronger engagements between Panama and the Southeast Asian region.  President Halimah also welcomed the growing bilateral cooperation in education, maritime logistics, and infrastructure development.
 
 
Prime Minister Lee and Vice President Saint Malo reaffirmed the excellent bilateral relationship, and welcomed the close cooperation between Singapore and Panama at multilateral fora.  They exchanged views on regional and international developments, and discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in the infrastructure, logistics, and urban solutions sectors.    They also exchanged the experiences of both countries in technical and vocational training, and emphasised the importance of equipping the youth in both countries with relevant skills to fully take advantage of growing markets in Southeast Asia and Latin America.
