MFA Spokesperson's comments in response to media queries on discussions between Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on 12 November 2018

In response to media queries on discussions between Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on 12 November 2018, the MFA Spokesperson said:

“Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad had a wide-ranging discussion on bilateral and regional issues during their meeting on 12 November 2018. Both sides expressed their differing views on the right to review the price of water under the 1962 Water Agreement (62WA). They expressed their willingness for officials to have further discussions to better understand each other’s positions.”

Singapore’s position on the 62WA was recently addressed by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan in Parliament:https://www.mfa.gov.sg/Newsroom/Press-Statements-Transcripts-and-Photos/2018/07/Parliamentary-Question.
