MFA Press Statement: Visit by Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Social and Family Development, Sam Tan to Tromsø, Norway, for the 13th Arctic Frontiers Conference, 20 to 22 January 2019

Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Social and Family Development, Sam Tan will visit Tromsø, Norway, from 20 to 22 January 2019 to attend the 13^th Arctic Frontiers Conference (AFC).

Organised by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Norwegian think-tanks, the AFC is an annual platform for government leaders, business leaders and academics to discuss collaboration between government, industry and science in the Arctic. This is the fifth time that Singapore is attending the AFC since becoming an observer in the Arctic Council in 2013. The theme of the 13^th AFC is “Smart Arctic”. MOS Tan will deliver remarks at a plenary session on “Smart and Resilient Arctic Societies” on 21 January 2019. MOS Tan will also meet Arctic interlocutors and representatives from the Arctic Council Indigenous Peoples’ Secretariaton the sidelines of the AFC.Singapore’s participation at the AFC is part of our overall engagement of Arctic states in line with our observership in the Arctic Council.

MOS Tan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
