Minister of State (MOS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Social and Family Development, Sam Tan is in St Petersburg, Russia, to attend the 5thInternational Arctic Forum (IAF).
On the sidelines of the IAF, MOS met Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev, Special Representative of the President on International Cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic Artur Chilingarov, Russian Senior Arctic Official Nikolay Korchunov and President of the Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North Grigorii Ledkov. During these meetings, MOS and his interlocutors reaffirmed bilateral relations, Russia’s support for Singapore’s observership in the Arctic Council, and agreed to deepen cooperation on Arctic issues.
Apart from these bilateral meetings, MOS also met Director of the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute Aleksandr Makarov, Rector of the Arctic University of Norway Anne Husebekk, as well as Managing Director of the Center for High North Logistics Kjell Stokvik and Chairman of the Tschudi Shipping Company Felix Tschudi to discuss developments in the Arctic.
MOS will depart St Petersburg today.
