Visit of Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong to Yokohama, Japan, 27 to 30 August 2019

Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong is in Yokohama, Japan, for the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICADVII). 
         
ESM met Japanese leaders during the visit, including Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Taro Aso, and former Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda. ESM thanked Prime Minister Abe for inviting him to speak at TICADVII. ESM also congratulated Deputy Prime Minister Aso, who co-chaired the Plenary Session ESM spoke at, on the success of TICADVII, and had a candid exchange of views on regional and global developments. ESM and former Prime Minister Fukuda had a good discussion on a broad range of issues.  
 
ESM also interacted with African leaders during the visit. He met Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, where they discussed how Singapore and Ghana could work together to strengthen bilateral ties and further economic cooperation.
