Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean continued his bilateral working visit in Moscow, Russia on 17 October 2019.
SM Teo met Deputy Prime Minister Mr Maxim Akimov. They welcomed the recent signing of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU)-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, and reaffirmed the commitment to work towards the expeditious conclusion of the bilateral Services and Investment Agreement. They had a good discussion on opportunities for collaboration in the digital and innovation sector. They also exchanged experiences on using digital technology and data analytics to improve policy-making and public service delivery to better meet the needs of our citizens.
SM Teo met First Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Mr Yury Averyanov. They discussed how Russia and Singapore could strengthen bilateral cooperation in counter-terrorism, in the Arctic Council, and in trade and investment. They also had a good exchange of views on global security challenges and regional developments.
SM Teo also visited Sberbank and its Cybersecurity Centre. He was briefed on Sberbank’s strategies in cyber security and their latest innovations using artificial intelligence in voice and facial recognition, and data analytics.
SM Teo is accompanied by Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information, and Ministry of Transport Dr Janil Puthucheary; Members of Parliament Mr Saktiandi Supaat and Ms Jessica Tan; and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. SM Teo will attend the 23rd meeting of the Total International Advisory Committee on 18-20 October 2019.
