President Halimah Yacob will visit Tokyo, Japan from 21 to 24 October 2019 at the invitation of the Japanese government to attend the Enthronement Ceremony of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito of Japan.
In addition to the Enthronement Ceremony, President Halimah will also attend the Court Banquet hosted by Their Majesties Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako on 22 October, as well as the banquet hosted by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his spouse Mrs Akie Abe on 23 October. President Halimah will also have a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Abe, meet members of the Japan-Singapore Parliamentary Friendship League, visit NEC’s Future Creation Hub, and attend a reception with the Singaporean community in Japan.
President Halimah will be accompanied by Mr Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee and officials from the President’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During President Halimah’s absence, Mr Eddie Teo, Chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisers, will exercise the function of the Office of the President.
