Official Visit of Vice President of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, Roberto Morales Ojeda, 25 October 2019

The Vice President of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, Roberto Morales Ojeda, is on an Official Visit to Singapore from 24 to 27 October 2019, at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.
 
During Vice President Morales’s call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong this afternoon, PM Lee and Vice President Morales reaffirmed the warm bilateral ties and the strong cooperation between Singapore and Cuba at multilateral fora such as the United Nations. Vice President Morales welcomed Singapore companies to continue exploring opportunities in Cuba, especially in the tourism, biopharmaceuticals, logistics and biotechnology sectors. Both sides also welcomed further cooperation on education, including between our tertiary institutions.
 
Vice President Morales was also hosted to lunch by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan today. Minister Balakrishnan and Vice President Morales discussed efforts to facilitate exchanges between our peoples and businesses, including the signing of a Visa Abolition Agreement in 2015. Minister Balakrishnan and Vice President Morales exchanged views on developments in Southeast Asia and Latin America.  Both sides also agreed to step up the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the areas of education, biotechnology and research.
       
Vice President Morales also met with Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat today and will visit Gardens by the Bay. Vice President Morales is in Singapore until 27 October 2019.
