Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will make a working visit to Japan from 22 to 23 November 2019, during which he will have bilateral meetings in Tokyo and attend the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Nagoya.
On 22 November, Minister Balakrishnan will meet Japanese political leaders and senior government officials in Tokyo. He will then travel to Nagoya, where he will attend the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting from 22 to 23 November. Singapore has been invited by Japan to participate in the G20 process as the representative of the Global Governance Group. The G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting will discuss how countries can foster cooperation to address key global challenges, including promoting free trade and global governance, sustainable development, and assisting Africa in its development.
Minister Balakrishnan’s visit to Japan caps a year of high-level exchanges between the two countries, and reaffirms Singapore’s close relationship with Japan.
Minister Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
