President Halimah Yacob, who is in Indonesia on a State Visit, attended a reception with Singapore and Indonesian business leaders yesterday evening. She encouraged the Singapore business community to continue exploring new partnerships in Jakarta and other Indonesian regions. President also met the Singapore community in Jakarta at a reception, during which she reiterated the important role they played in building people-to-people links between Singapore and Indonesia.
This morning, President visited and observed the “Occupational Therapy for Children with Special Needs” project organised by the Singapore International Foundation, in partnership with the Foundation for the Development of Children with Special Needs (YPAC) in Jakarta and Singapore Health Services. This train-the-trainer programme serves to upgrade the skills of educators who work with special needs children. President also witnessed an Industry 4.0 training course conducted under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Singapore Polytechnic and the Indonesian Ministry of Industry (MOI). This initiative, co-funded by MOI and Temasek Foundation, will help enhance the capabilities of Indonesian polytechnic staff to develop and implement new training courses to meet the evolving manpower needs of Industry 4.0. President had lunch with religious and inter-faith leaders where they affirmed the importance of inter-faith harmony and understanding, and exchanged views on ways to strengthen cohesion and resilience in their respective communities.
President will depart for Yogyakarta in the afternoon. This evening, President will be hosted to dinner by Governor of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X. President will continue her visit in Yogyakarta tomorrow before departing for Singapore in the evening.
